Cream or Black

Gahhh! It's 10 PM and I need to wake up at 5 AM tomorrow for work, and I haven't finished packing for Saturday.

I just tried on my black skirt and it's tighter than I remember. A corset might be too uncomfortable for the hours of standing. Cream pockets it is!!!

The current preliminary wedding guest list is now up to 115 people.

If I didn't make the family cut off "aunts/uncles/cousins I've spoken to in the last 2 years" the list would probably be 200.

I keep remembering more people I should invite.

List, stop growing! Vivien wants a wedding where everyone can talk to each other, not a giant Chinese banquet.

When A Series of Unfortunate Events came out, I was looking for Violet Baudelaire's shoes.

I eventually settled for some with only 4 buckles, but they were made of real leather. Now I found something even better . . .

I've been thinking about the things I like and dislike in wedding dresses. I hate the sequins, scratchy lace and mountains of beadwork that are on many dresses. I don't like the strapless dresses that are in vogue right now.

I am very fond of pintucks, ruffles, pleats, scallops, smocking and other design elements that are built of fabric instead of plastic. I can't get a heavy bridal satin gown because the fabric will be too thick to make all the delicate pintucks I like. I like vintage things, and the open skirt and ruffled hems of rococo dresses.

Ahem.

I think I've had a picture of the BtSSB Pockets Embroidery dress on my hard drive for 2 years, and now I know why.

I can commission a floor-length version of this dress, without the pockets or strangely wide shirred straps. I can get this made in thick cotton or even silk (although I like how cotton would be easier to care for, especially if I get wrinkles on the wedding day).

I need your opinion: Awesome idea or crazy talk? Cotton or silk?

Decisions

We've made a few more general decisions related to the wedding:

- Australian honeymoon because Gunther wants to see and eat "funny animals."

- Daytime wedding, with a Saturday afternoon luncheon.

- Unless there are catering restrictions for our venue, we will have a buffet so people can eat what they like, and decide for themselves how much they want to eat.

- Goal guest count 100 people or less. <-- not sure yet how feasible this is

- Candy for everyone to take home.

- Live music because Gunther finds wedding DJs creepy.

- Open bar. Of course.

- Vivien will make most aesthetic decisions because she's the one that realizes a love for tan M&Ms is not enough to make them suitable wedding favors.

Wedding Colors

We've selected Mint Green as our wedding color. When I say "We" I really mean we. Gunther agreed to a pastel color scheme.

We both like the color green but he didn't know the difference between the shades of green I suggested: spring, celadon, jade, mint, etc. so I took out a sheet of pastel green paper and asked "Lighter or darker than this?" and so on.

We ended up looking at an internet hexidecimal color chart because we're geeks. We picked out #99FFAA.

I now finally have an excuse to buy these Irregular Choice shoes:

Too bad they don't come in mint green. Oh wait . . .

I could swap out the dark green ribbons on these to a lighter color:

Too bad I didn't buy these when I first saw them over a year ago. They're completely sold out in all sizes and colors. I have a year to stalk eBay for them.
